March27th St. Croix 4H Horse and Pony Clinic at Rockin' Arrow Ranch. Topic was "Prepping for show season". I would like to personally thank Amy, Katie, Jenna, Jessica, Connor, Allison, Abbie, Ashley, MaKenna, Isabelle, Haidyn, Payton, MacKenzie, Alex and Tori for coming to my clinic! I
am so impressed with the turnout for my clinic. We had 15 Horse and Pony 4Hers that came and listened to
my talk and took home what I hope is some pretty good information! There
were tons of great questions afterwards too! What a great bunch of
kids! Thank you parents for bringing them!!! AND--if you were at this
clinic please send me your email address. I would like to keep you up to
date on my next clinics and anything else we are attending! Thank you!
We had so much fun at the 4-H Basic Hunt Seat Riding Clinic held by Dan McConaughey on March 8th! There were lots of people there including Alex, Gaylen, Kris, Becky, Timber, Allie and Meredith--plus tons more! The kids learned about both hunt seat and english (Saddleseat) riding. Dan also covered equitation and the gaits of the horses. Then at the end he covered fitting your english saddle and braiding! It was so much fun and informative! Then we enjoyed some yummy pizza and pop! Thank you Dan and Becky for setting this up!!!
I was sad to miss the Farmington Tack Swap this year, but friends and family were able to get some great deals! Lori picked up a beautiful Billy Cook show saddle and breastcollar. Bethany picked up some adorable show shirts for our girls and herself! She even found a pretty purple show pad and some trailer ties and was able to sell her Circle Y show saddle and some of her show clothes! What a great swap! I missed the swap because I was coaching the Youth Archery at A1 Archery here in Hudson. It was our last league day for the kids and it was a blast! They got to shoot at 3D animal targets and there was lots of talk about trying to get some of the kids to some local tournaments! FUN! Plus, I got to order my new shooter's bow! My Hoyt Vector is coming!
I attended ADM Alliance Nutrition's feed seminar in Shakopee, MN March 1st with Beth and Sone! We had so much fun and learned so much about the horse's digestive system and how to feed our horses! I learned that we should NEVER EVER feed our horses corn cobs or kernels because of myotoxins!!! They check each and every kernel for these myotoxins that can actually kill our horses! I never knew that! We also had fun at lunch meeting a nice couple who had Paso Finos--the conversation was so interesting! Thank you to Beth for driving and inviting me to such a fun get together!
The Willow River Riders Saddle Club Tack Swap on Feb 25th was so much fun! I had a blast sharing my booth with Beth Murray-Laughnan who sells ADM Feeds! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Meredith, Allie and Allie's little sister Lauren, and helping them find a Lynn Palm hunt saddle as well as a coat and breeches for this year's show season! I loved talking to Kathy about her horses and meeting Julie and Rose! Hopefully we will be able to set up some lessons! Amber set up a lesson for this coming weekend in New Richmond on her horse and I was able to meet Alex's mom! Alex is booming with excitement about this year and I love her enthusiasm! Jocelyn was the winner of the donated lesson for this year and I could hear her across the room as she screamed and jumped up and down! (I think she was excited!) Overall it was a great experience and I thank each of you for spending time chatting with me!!! Feel free to contact us or keep an eye on our website for the next time we are out and about! We would love to have you tag along!!!
